Mission Statement

 

     The Powhatan Youth Wrestling and Community Development Corporation is an organization dedicated to promoting, fostering and mentoringkids involved in our club and community to become solid citizens.  We achieve this stated goal by teaching and demanding high standards of character, integrity, and making the right choices in life.  We strive to instill physical health, sportsmanship, self-confidence, self-esteem and strong values of dedication, persistence, hardwork, and honesty. 

 

    As a community organization we realize that young kids make mistakes and require parents and community organizations, such as ours, to assist in teaching kids the values and skills necessary to overcome mistakes.  We in the Powhatan Youth Wrestling and Community Development Corporation strive to help kids reach their full potential in life, school and in competition. 

 

The purpose of Powhatan Youth Wrestling and Community Development Corporation:

 

  1. Conduct physical training and wrestling instruction regardless of their social and economic background.  We will never turn any child away that is willing to work hard to achieve their own goals and improve themselves.
  2. Conduct tournaments, competitions, clinics, and practices for wrestlers and coaches
  3. Establish a travel team to compete in wrestling camps, and tournaments in various geographical areas of the United States.
  4. Encourage wrestlers to attend local, state, regional, and national tournaments.
  5. Encourage wrestlers to attend State Championships, National Championships tournaments.
  6. Establish a volunteer program in which members and their parents donate time, and energy to other local charities to help build strong bonds with in the community, and teach the lesson of giving one’s self to their community.
  7. Working with the local juvenile justice system, local Law Enforcement agencies, and schools to provide another resource to help at risk kids by providing employment, community service hours and strong positive leadership.
  8. Solicit, and encourage local businesses, groups, corporations, and government entities in order to finance the activities of the organization.
